This slab of oak has been through some things... specifically surviving the worst flooding in Alton, IL history.

For 175 years, the Mississipi River held a record high 36.90 feet of standing water in Alton, IL. June of 2019, Alton beat its previous record with 37.23 feet of standing water.

This specific slab of oak was chopped in Missouri and transported to Alton, IL. After being submerged under the flooded water, the slab sat for a year and was considered "junk" wood.

After sanding, trimming the slab to size, sealing with tung oil and installing a 18 bottle Wine Rack iron holder, this piece is complete.
